23rd December 2020

Dear Member

England –  The Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, has today announced that from one minute past midnight on Boxing Day the below areas will be moved into different tiers. This will mean venues currently open in Tier 2, will now have to close as those areas move into Tiers 3 & 4.

Tier 4:

  • Sussex
  • Oxfordshire
  • Suffolk
  • Norfolk
  • Cambridgeshire
  • Parts of Essex not already in Tier 4
  • Waverly in Surrey
  • Hampshire – including Portsmouth and Southampton with the exception of the New Forest

Tier 3:

  • Bristol
  • Gloucestershire
  • Somerset
  • Swindon
  • Isle of Wight
  • The New Forest
  • Northamptonshire
  • Cheshire and Warrington

Tier 2:

  • Cornwall
  • Herefordshire

Disturbingly, he also announced yet another strain of the virus had been discovered in the UK.  Like the strain uncovered last week, this one appears to be more transmissible.  It is the strain currently dominating in South Africa.

Kind regards,
