Bacta outlines its key Review objectives to Gambling Commission

Bacta met with the Gambling Commission this week to share its key objectives with the regulator in the run up to the Gambling Review.

The trade association’s CEO John White was joined by Elizabeth Speed, General Counsel for Novomatic UK and Chair of Bacta’s Social Responsibility Committee, and Tony Boulton, Director of Public and Political Relations at MERKUR UK and Chair of Division 4, in a meeting hosted by interim CEO of the Commission Andrew Rhodes.

“We were impressed by the depth of knowledge that Andrew Rhodes showed about our side of the gambling industry,” reported White. “This is not the first meeting we have had with him, of course, and it is clear that Bacta’s message is getting through. We discussed the state of the market and our asks for the upcoming Gambling Review.”

He added: “It was incredibly valuable to have Elizabeth and Tony present to give their viewpoints directly and to highlight the commitment of bacta members to Social Responsibility.

“The timing of this meeting is clearly crucial as we expect the publication of the Government’s White Paper on the Gambling Review this Spring. The Commission obviously have a major part in shaping the legislation and we remain committed to working closely with them to support our members businesses,” he added.
