Illustrious judging panel is confirmed for Bacta Annual Awards with 1st December deadline announced

Bacta Member companies have until Friday 1st December to submit their nominations for the prestigious five category Bacta Annual Awards.

With the presentations taking place on the opening day of January’s EAG Expo, the Awards are being judged by a three person panel of industry stalwarts comprising EAG Chairman Martin Burlin, Miles Baron, Chief Executive of the Bingo Association and Brigid Simmonds, current Chairman of the Betting and Gaming Council and former Chief Executive of the British Beer and Pub Association.

The five categories comprise bacta’s High Street Hero, which celebrates the outstanding staff who work in Britain’s AGCs, High Street Bingo and inland FEC’s; the Seaside Saviour which is for staff working in seaside arcades, FECs and Piers; Supply Chain Champion, for those largely unsung heroes and heroines who play a vital role in helping to deliver fun and entertainment to communities across the country and Green Giants which recognises individuals or businesses showing a commitment to reducing their carbon footprint and promoting workplace sustainability. The fifth Bacta Award is in the memory of the late Jimmy Thomas who served the industry in many different capacities not least as Bacta National President, Chairman of the Bacta Charitable Trust and as Chairman of ATE Ltd. The Jimmy Thomas Rising Star Award aims to find the best and brightest industry members aged under 30-years.

Previewing the Awards bacta chief executive John White said: “I am delighted to announce our illustrious judging panel who have served the broadly-based hospitality , leisure, low-stake gaming and amusement sectors with great distinction. Many bacta members are also members of the Bingo Association or the Betting and Gaming Council a fact which underlines the strength and influence of our broad church of industry representatives.

“The sectors we serve are predicated on the delivery of excellence to a discerning customer base. The Bacta Awards shine a light on those individuals and organisations who are making a difference and who are part of the continuous process of raising standards and consistently exceeding the expectations of the Great British public.”

He added: “It is fitting that we will be presenting the Bacta Awards in the Bacta Lounge at EAG the UK industry’s flagship exhibition for the amusements, bingo and low-stake gaming sectors and the event which the industry looks to for inspiration.”

Nominations will be judged in line with the Awards criteria comprising the development and implementation of creative solutions, upholding bacta’s core values of being ethical, sustainable, modern, professional, collaborative, open and transparent, consumer welfare and being a supportive team player.
