Bacta self-exclusion services gains cyber essentials certification

31st January 2022 – PRESS RELEASE

Bacta Self-Exclusion Services (BSESL) has successfully acquired accreditation for the Government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme following an extensive audit.

“We are thrilled to have gained Cyber Essentials certification, which gives us and our customers peace of mind that their data is as safe as possible from cyber attack,” says Russell Edge, bacta Membership SR and Compliance Manager.

BSESL can now display the Certificate of Assurance to prove it meets the required standards in five main areas:

  1. firewalls
  2. cyber secure configuration
  3. user access control
  4. malware protection
  5. security update management

“This certification demonstrates BSESL’s continued commitment to cyber security and data protection” adds bacta CEO John White. “Nothing is more important than protecting self-excluders’ data and this accreditation puts us first in class for data security. Only 0.5% of the UKs SMEs have achieved this award which is something we take as a powerful endorsement of the work we do to deliver an unrivalled service to our customers,”.

Cyber Essentials gives businesses protection against a wide variety of the most common cyberattacks. This is important because vulnerability to simple attacks can make businesses and associations a target for more in-depth unwanted attention from cyber criminals and others.
