General Election statement – Bacta President John Bollom

“On behalf of Bacta members we will be pressing on the new government of the urgent need to finish implementing the package of gambling reforms which had cross-party support and were about to be introduced to the House of Commons around the time the surprise election was called by Rishi Sunak.

“Dealing with specifics, we will be pushing for the introduction of cashless play, support for the AGC sector which is still recovering from the twin shocks of Covid and the energy price hikes and for a stake and prize review. We will also be contacting the hundreds of new MPs in Bacta areas encouraging them to support early action to support the sector. Bacta has secured meetings with DCMS officials scheduled for 16 July and with the Gambling Commission CEO Andrew Rhodes on the following day in order to take stock and to re-set the reform process.”
