Bacta members are being encouraged to exercise their democratic influence and help shape the future as the trade association’s election timetable is announced.
Outlining the timeline which will culminate in the declaration of results at the Bacta AGM on June 19th, George McGregor, Executive Director Government Relations said: “At the start of May we will be inviting members to make nominations for the National Council including the positions of Bacta President, Bacta Vice-President and three Past Presidents as well as 20 places on the Amusement Council with nominations closing May 20th. The three candidates topping the Amusement Council poll will be offered seats on the National Council.”
He continued: “Thereafter voting papers will be issued May 29th, the balloting period will close June 12th with the election results declared a week later at the June 19th AGM. Elections for the Gaming Council will take place in 2026.
“This is a key opportunity for Bacta members to have their voice heard and to contribute directly to the work of the trade association, including its engagement programme with government and external stakeholders.”
Crown Leisure Managing Director Dean Harding who has confirmed that he will not be standing for re-election to the position of Chairman of the Amusement Council believes the modernisation programme led by John Bollom and endorsed by the membership has resulted in a lean and agile organisation which is equipped to deal with the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. He stated: “Based on my own experience, the Bacta structure that’s now in place is much more inclusive than it was previously and encourages members to voice their opinions and deploy their specialisms and skill-sets for the common cause. Bacta is a broad church and I hope that the voting outcomes reflect that characteristic and what I believe to be a core strength.”
