Bacta is seeking to extend the 5 percent MGD rate to encompass stakes of play up to 25p. George McGregor – Bacta Executive Director – Government Relations said “Under no circumstances does Bacta want the 5 percent rate to increase. Bacta’s position on MGD is to lobby Government to deliver a better tax position for both Category D and Category C machines in the process benefitting all sectors of the industry. In addition, we are fighting any increase in the overall rates of MGD. These would have devastating consequences for our sector. We will be emphasising this when we meet the Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross ahead of the Budget. Our sector can help drive growth at the seaside, in the High Street and with machine manufacturing and any tax increases would scupper that.”
