Covid-19 Update

25th September 2020

Dear Member

COVID-19 UPDATE

The detail surrounding the announcements from the Governments of England, Scotland and Wales have started to be published.  This is where we are so far:

England

Restricted Hours

  • Pubs and arcades must close between 10.00 p.m. and 5.00 a.m.

Face Coverings:

  • Are mandatory in pubs for customers and staff unless eating or drinking. Customers must be seated.  Face coverings should be worn when playing machines or pool.
  • In arcades, guidance is silent on staff wearing face masks but says customers should wear them.  The Regs published yesterday do not mention arcades in either case.  Bacta recommends that the arcade sector follows all other parts of the Retail Leisure and Hospitality Sector and asks customers and staff to wear masks

Customer Details

  • You must try to collect contact details of customers in a way that is reasonable using the NHS Tracing system

Wales

 Restricted Hours:

  • Pubs and other premises licensed to sell alcohol may not do so between the hours of 10.00 p.m. and 6.00 a.m, which is de facto a requirement to close.  This allows for a period after 10.00 p.m. for drinkers to finish their drinks.
  • Arcades do not have to close at 10.00 p.m.

Face Coverings

  • Staff and customers must wear a face covering

New Lockdown Measures – STOP PRESS

  • Swansea, Cardiff and Llanelli will go into lockdown on Sunday.  As with other local lockdowns it is not expected to affect members over and above national restrictions.

 Scotland

 Restricted Hours

  • Pubs, restaurants and other ‘hospitality settings’ must close between 10.00.pm. and 5.00 a.m.
  • Arcades do not have to close.

Face Coverings

  • Customers must wear face coverings in an arcade and staff in the ‘hospitality sector’ must wear a face covering.  I haven’t seen the Regulations on this yet but members are advised to ask staff to wear coverings if they can.

Customer details

  • You must try to collect contact details of customers in a way that is reasonable using the NHS Scotland Test and Protect system.  Click here for details and to download the app: https://protect.scot.  This is still a voluntary scheme in Scotland.

Kind regards,

John
