FREE Customs Training

Dear Member

FREE TRAINING FOR ANY MEMBER MAKING CUSTOMS DECLARATIONS

With Brexit looming and new trade deals being struck all the time those members involved in import/export will have a job keeping up with new requirements.  Working with KPMG we are able to secure, on a first come first serve basis, free Government training in the customs-related skills you will need.

Below you will find more information about this offer.  If you are interested please let me know with the detail required at the bottom of this email.

  • What is the Customs Grant scheme? –  As part of the Government’s efforts to assist businesses in their contingency planning for Brexit, HMRC is offering a number of customs grant schemes which include employee training. The training grant will provide you up to 100% of the cost of customs trainingfor your employees, capped at up to £2,250 per employee.  The deadline for applications is the 31st of January 2021, however, this could be much earlier if funding is fully allocated, which is done on a first come first serve basis. We therefore recommend you apply as soon as possible.

  • Why should you apply? – The training will provide your employees with valuable customs-related skills, such as helping to manage your customs processes and maintaining oversight over the import/export declaration process. With the Brexit transition period set to end on 31st December 2020, and the expected increase in volumes of customs declarations and administrative requirements, these will be key skills for the business.

  • What is the Eligibility criteria  – In order to be eligible for the grant, your business must be established in, or have a branch in the UK when the grant is paid to you, and must be in good standing with HMRC i.e. you have not previously failed to meet your tax obligations. You must also import from, or export to, the EU or expect to do so in the future, as the training is geared towards upskilling on future increased volumes in customs declarations.

  • How can I apply? – bacta is working collaboratively with KPMG, who are offering a tailored version of this training. If you are interested in applying, please send the following information to John White at john.white@bacta.org.uk:

o   Company name

o   Email address to enable you to receive KPMG’s training proposal

o   Number of attendees

o   Level of training required for each attendee i.e. beginner or intermediate training

Providing the above details will allow bacta to continue the discussion with KPMG to agree a format for the training. We are envisaging individual grant applications (which KPMG can assist with) but for the training to be provided jointly to all interested members.

As the grant is provided on first come first serve basis, could you please indicate your interest as soon as possible.

Kind regards

John
