Bacta members play their part in Responsible Gambling success

Bacta member companies throughout the country have played a full and active part helping to make the second Responsible Gambling Week a success.

Billed as a national conversation surrounding what constitutes Responsible Gambling, the initiative was designed to trigger conversations between customers and staff working across the spectrum of gaming establishments including AGCs, bingo clubs and FECs. Alongside training programmes aimed at teachers, university professionals and community workers, every gambling venue in the country displayed responsible gambling literature focusing on how to keep gambling fun and safe.

John White, chief executive of Bacta, believes the messaging struck a chord with members. He said: “The research conducted by PwC confirmed that fun was the most important driver for our customers so in many ways the message that lies behind Responsible Gambling Week was second nature to our members.”

He added: “Bacta and its members clearly support Responsible Gambling Week. Member initiatives were held up and down the country with windows and premises full of the campaign posters.

“We have seen A-boards outside venues, special leaflets printed and badges worn by venue staff. social media is alive with talk of Responsible Gambling Week from many gambling operators both within and without our sector. From the feedback we have received, there has been a definite uptick in coverage and awareness amongst customers and this will hopefully lead to more conversations about responsible gambling beyond the week itself.Responsible Gambling Cashino

“For me the underlying theme is one conveying active engagement with our customers to ensure they can enjoy what we have to offer, safe in the knowledge that we are a caring industry with caring operators. This not only gives them confidence that they are spending their money with someone they trust but also, that those that might be vulnerable will be looked after.”

Bacta’s position was supported by both Praesepe and Novomatic UK, Byron Evans, commercial director at Praesepe confirmed: “Cashino Gaming was actively engaged in promoting this excellent initiative in all of our venues, as well as via our website and social media. Increased customer awareness of the help that is available to that small percentage of customers who may feel they have a problem with their gambling is crucially important.”

Elizabeth Speed, group general counsel, Novomatic UK and chair of Bacta’s division three, added: “Our venues throughout the country have yet again played a full part in helping to make Responsible Gambling Week a success. Our employees are our most important asset. They were instrumental in communicating the responsible gambling message during Responsible Gambling Week and continue to do so throughout the rest of the year.”
