Social Responsibility Exchange to precede Reception

Kate Lampard CBE, chair of GambleAware, has been named as the keynote speaker at Bacta’s first Social Responsibility Exchange, a free to attend one day educational initiative being held on 21 November, the day prior to the Bacta Annual Convention.

The event, which will also feature Lee Willows from YGAM, GamCare’s Anna Hemmings and Helen Rhodes from the Gambling Commission, is targeted at owners, managers and above all the customer-facing staff at bacta member businesses.

Bacta chief executive John White is asking members of the trade body to share their experiences and learn from their peers on subjects ranging from self exclusion and dealing with the vulnerable through to age verification. He said: “We have what I believe to be a really good crop of speakers and facilitators and the emphasis will be on sharing real life experiences. I want to assure members that this is not an academic style symposium but one that will deal with social responsibility at the coal face.

“This is the first time that we have undertaken such an initiative and the contribution of Bacta members will be crucial in determining its success.

The Social Responsibility Exchange will start at 11am with a Welcome Address by Bacta’s head of social responsibility and compliance, Simon Bradbury. Former Bacta president and current chairman of the Social Responsibility Committee, Jason Frost, will also contribute to the debate focusing on the industry Responsible Gambling Strategy.”

It will be a high profile two days for the association and its members. The Social Responsibility Exchange precedes Bacta’s annual Parliamentary Reception which is being held in the House of Commons. The guest speaker is gambling minister Tracy Crouch who will be speaking to members and guests during the evening. The following day it is the Bacta Annual Convention at which the new Gambling Commission CEO, Neil McArthur will be providing the keynote address.”

John White concluded: “The Bacta team has worked hard to produce three ‘must attend’ events which have been timetabled to minimise the demands on members and their staff. It’s a great opportunity to engage with leading figures within GambleAware, YGAM, GamCare, the Gambling Commission and the minister all within a really significant two day period as well as to share meaningful experiences of what top drawer social responsibility looks like.”
